Company Nutcracker

Pasadena Dance Center has traditionally produced a version of the
holiday “
Nutcracker” for the past 25 years. Starting with the classic
version this one hour production has captivated children and adults
every Christmas Season. In recent years, with the expansion of the
dance program beyond ballet to include other dance styles, ie. Jazz,
Lyrical, Tap, Modern, and Contemporary, the performances have
taken on new visions and themes. The very contemporary
choreography of Frit and Frat Fuller, has debuted the
Nut Crackin Knight” in 2008, followed by “ Nut Crackin Knight 2
in 2009. PDC offers other performance opportunities for our
students, one being our annual spring recital. Each year all dance
students have the option of performing in a small production,
and with their classes, on stage. This part of dance training
prepares all of our students to experience dance production and
to show off the skills they are learning all year for their parents
and friends.

Nutcracker PrinceClara's Dream — 2006

Our first Nutcracker premiered December 1997 at the Harriet and
Charles Luckman Fine Arts Complex at California State University.

Last year's production was an adaptation of the traditional
"Nutcracker" called "Clara's Dream." Academy Award-nominated
film composer John Debney ("The Passion of the Christ")
coordinated the ballet score from Tchaikovsky's classic music.
The performance at Sexson Auditorium at
Pasadena City College was spectacular.

Our students had the unique opportunity for work with guest artists from the
Bolshoi Theater in Russia -- Ruslan Pronin and Ksenia Kern dancing the roles of the
"Sugar Plum Fairy" and her "Cavalier."

Critic's Review

Last weekend I saw a one-hour Nutcracker version performed by Le Studio's company ...
that was more musical, more thoughtful, more beautiful than American Ballet Theatre's...
